I hope all of you are having lots of fun and are sleeping in every day.  This gorgeous weather we are having makes me think of summer and summer makes me think of blockbuster movies.  Check out the 10 hottest movie trailers out right now on IMDb.  Which one are you most looking forward to and why?  What other movies are you looking forward to and what is your most favourite recent movie?

Viral Videos

We have learned how a video can go viral.  For a review watch the video again.  Ted Talk.

Comment on viral videos using the following questions as a guide.  Why do videos go viral.  Have you ever seen a viral video.  What good can come from this, anything bad?  If you know of a good viral video (PG rated only) post it here as well.

How does this picture make you feel?  What does this picture make you think?  Can you compare the two?  Because you are sad that Whitney died does that mean you do not care about children in Africa who are starving?  Is one more important than they other?  Do you think that we are too obsessed with celebrities and especially their deaths?

For the next activity check out some other blogs on here and by other I don't mean Tyre's (but you should check his out too, it's good).  You can do this by clicking on the tab called Next Blog in the top menu bar (or you can search on a topic that interests you).

Go through the blogs until you find one that interests you and spend a few moments reading it.  Come back to our site and tell us the name of the blog and what you found interesting about it.  Here are some guiding questions.

What is the name?
What is it about?
Who writes it?
Why do you find it interesting?
Why should we check it out?

Notes:
1.  If you like the blog you find go ahead and click follow and it will be added to your list.
2.  It might be easier to do this assignment if you have 2 tabs open; one for writing a comment and one for reading the new blog.
3.  If you are really stuck for a good one try Googling "interesting blogs".

Welcome to GLE3O9!

I thought that I would try a new way to practice our writing.  Something that is fun and interactive and if you have unlimited data on your phone very convenient.  I will regularly post topics here for you to comment on.  You may do so during class time or on your own.  While I am not going to be super strict on spelling and grammar please remember that we are focusing on improving our literacy skills and also if I can't understand it, I can't mark it.  We will all be able to read each others posts.  You should all respond to my initial blog but feel free to comment on what your classmates write as well. Please remember that we are all learning together and you must always respect your peers and keep your posts appropriate for the school environment.
